Duplicate A Human In A Dramatic Forest

I'll be showing you how to create a dramatic forest setting with a duplicated, supernatural-looking human in the photo. The woodland landscape effect will appear eerie and creepy after being manipulated from a normal photo. We have three photos, each with the same person standing at a different tree. We will be merging them together to make it seem like there are three of the same person. Creepy yes? If you don't have Photoshop, or you want to upgrade to the new CS5 Version, take a look at the Adobe Special Offers from the Adobe Store. Here are the first three photos which I'll be using in this example...

1: Merging All The Photos To Duplicate The Person

  • 1.1. Cut the person out of one photo and place them into the other one. Do this as many times as you want to create more people.
  • 1.2. With the eraser, and a soft brush, go around the edges, and now it should look authentically realistic.

2: Manipulating The Forest Photo Into A More Dramatic & Mysterious Landscape

  • 2.1. Duplicate your image (Ctrl + J) again, and change the Blending Mode to Soft Light.
  • 2.2. Now, add Filter » Blur » Guassian Blur with 5px-30px (depending on image size), then Merge Visible (Shift + Ctrl + E) again.
  • 2.3. Find Image » Adjustments » Brightness/Contrast. Make the Brightness -100 and the Contrast +50. Vary if necessary.
  • 2.4. Finally, select Image » Adjustments » Hue/Saturation and lower the Saturation by 60. Again, vary if you need to.
  • 2.5. In this particular photo, I've cropped it to make it more horizontal.

3: Finally Making The Photo Effect More Creepy & Eerie

  • 3.1. Here, you can use a black soft brush with an appropiate opacity to darken anything that stands out too much, aka, the grass area.
  • 3.2. Repeat the Duplicate - Guassian Blur - Soft Light - Merge step again if you want to intensify the photo effect.
  • 3.3. Add an Inner Shadow with 100% Opacity, 0px Distance, 0% Choke, and a full 250px Size.
